“Learning by Doing” - we always seek opportunities to better ourselves

We strive to continually grow and redefine the nature of Social Impact and nurture our future generations.

We believe that "If you want to walk fast, go alone. If you desire to walk far, go together." Therefore, over the past 11 years, we have continued to make efforts in social impact. We aim to make positive impacts and bring positive changes to society while partaking in the community.

"Cultural inheritance" and "Resource differences" are unavoidable topics while conversing with our partner schools. To address these, we have been working with our partners to promote field experience/engagement, encourage hand-on practice, manage/strengthen the connection, and foster glocal relationships. In addition, by reference to the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), No. 4: Quality Education, No. 10: Reduce inequality within and among countries, and No.17: Revitalize the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development and local links, we ensure the USR initiatives are relevant and cohesive from a global perspective.

One of our focuses this year is to build the framework for "Three-Dimensional Generation Conversation." The model relies on outsiders (our project) to document and learn the memories of the elderly (preservation culturally-related field data) and reconnect the generations of children (increase learning motivation and interest). The college students catalyze the connection and are essential to the process. In the early days of cooperation with Xiaolin Elementary School, our imagination of a good relationship with the field was to bring them the best things in our hearts. However, in retrospect, we are the ones that received lots of care and support from Xiaolin elementary school, kids' parents, and villagers. One vivid example happened last year; our college volunteer students accompanied the Xiaolin elementary school's children participated in the Xiaolin Taivoan Night Festival together to experience and learn the trajectory of local history. We gathered students from different nationalities and ages to observe and document the event from their perspective and visualize the "Three Dimensional Generations Conversation" through words, videos, and photographs. We are similar to a catalyst, creating opportunities for continuous improvement of educational and new transmission in 3D. Enable children to view and understand their hometown and villages while in contact with new knowledge; meanwhile, giving positive stimulation, opening their horizons, activating values, critical thinking, and bravely assume responsibility in the process. Treat every relationship as a part of the coming-of-age ceremony and create "experience, knowledge, and skills" through carefully curated programs and events.

CSR x USR Copartnership

"Feel, Imagine, and Implement" is our way to approach education and learning.

We collaborate with companies' Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs and actively create solutions to the communities' sustainable challenges and feasible issues. Business professionals worked with our college volunteers to guide students and created a unique learning experience, demonstrating the benefits of cooperation between the University Social Responsibility (USR) and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Our project has been acquainted with ALUXE from the early stage and has become one of our good partners on the road to fulfilling Social Impact. And we hope that further training for college students will give them more space and freedom, which provides new ideas and can even put forward proposals for innovation and entrepreneurship. In addition, we are thrilled to share our hard work has accumulated some excellent results in several awards this year! Award-winning in【Project Imagination】sponsored by Franz Inc.,【2021 Instructional Innovation Top 100 Awards】organized by CommonWealth Magazine, and 【Young999 Award nominees】 run by the Renai Yiyang Social Welfare Foundation. We were also selected for the final interview in【Unique 20：U20 final interview】managed by CSR@CommonWealth Magazine. The new collaboration model also allows us to add new images to the future direction of CSR!

The synergy between CSR and USR is not only to work together but to form a shared value. The most important thing is to take pragmatic considerations, share the results, and produce a comprehensive effect of 1+1 "greater than more" or "reverse new." We concentrate resources in the local communities, build a circular community, and cultivate innovation and creativity. Sustainable development with the communities and society, and take a broad view of the world!

Link Up with The World  

Through communication and cooperation, we influence our partners and children and pass on the value of inclusiveness to the next generation.

Last year, many exchange students chose to stay in Taiwan due to the pandemic. Forty-six students from nine countries, including South Korea, Canada, United States, Indonesia, Myanmar, Vietnam, Jordan, Malaysia, and Taiwan, participated in the previous year's summer program. We show them authentic experiences in Taiwan while doing good deeds. We have also been working on "online classes" and "pre-recorded offline modules" to keep in touch with our foreign partners. In 2019, we did a pen pals project with American elementary school children. Since 2020, our STEAM team started pre-recorded educational videos such as Electronic Self-Propelled Car and Trebuchet Maker for Chishang Junior High School students when we couldn't visit them. Shortly after, we produced a podcast show with international students in Taiwan, till recently all recording has changed to online due to the pandemic. Our international student partners who have worked with us before returned to their hometown but continue interacting with us on social media platforms. Thus, the pandemic kept us physically apart, but our spirits always supported each other. In August of this year, we held an online Chishang Junior High School summer program. It usually was done in-person with a high-energy program, but this summer was different. Our volunteer teacher accompanied the children and shared a distant summer vacation online. Our connection with the world and the communities will not be interrupted even if we temporarily can't meet face-to-face. We will continue to work hard to create meaningful social impact across time and place!
