The Empower a Billion Lives

In 2018 Power Electronics Lab from Taiwan Tech led by Prof. Huang-Jen Chiu joined the “IEEE EMPOWER A BILLION LIVES” and won the Pacific Asia Best Track Award. The team was focusing on power electronics research like renewable energy, electric vehicle, industrial power, and power converter design. One team in Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) led by Prof. Deendarlianto was doing research on microbubble generator and combine it with our power-based technology. The research output was a microbubble generator powered by a solar converter device that can be used in rural areas. After completing the field testing, we got the experimental data and some feedbacks from the farmer about the significant improvement of the fish yield.

From Indonesia to Yi-Lan

With valuable experience in Indonesia, our team has moved back to Taiwan and tried to implement the same technology for the local fields. For some reason, we have chosen Yi-Lan fish farming as our testing field. By cooperating with a local power supply company, we try to empower our students to participate in the project. By installing the whole system with their hand, our students can have cross-domain learning opportunities. Therefore, it proves that the same research output is helpful in many applications from different places. The students can learn about the utilization of novel technology, especially for community empowerment.
